Have you ever heard of the Great Blue Hole, in Belize Central America? The Blue Hole is a large sinkhole located underwater approximately 60 miles from the City of Belize. The hole is about, 410 feet deep, and 1000 feet across. The site was formed as a limestone cave system during the last glacial period when sea levels were much lower.
The Great Blue Hole is one of the world’s largest features of its kind and is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve and was declared a top ten scuba diving site by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, a French Naval Officer.
